Cats are smart too….

Cats are smart too. But many of them, when presented with a nice bed, they’ll take the open box next to it.

Some younger people amaze me sometimes. They’re younger, intelligent, analytical, but they still only want to see one side. The wonderful thing about people their age, is the ability to reason events, look beyond their nose, look backward and forward to do their research.  Not only that, but (the hardest part) look outside the box they’ve been provided by education, media and social media.

One of the things that got me into computers when I was younger, was the quest for knowledge, it was not only an adventure, but a goal to discover. How did they start? How did they evolve? How far back did they go? When did they become useful? What are their potentials right now? What are they doing for us? What can they do? What will they be doing in the future?

I’m not going to quote history to you, we could do that for a long time.  Although history has been rewritten in our educational system (and think what you want, you don’t have to be THAT old to see it). I knew by staying close to my kids AND grand-kids as they grew up (grand-kids are in their 20s now). And it’s changed dramatically. History has become, to use a cliché, a thing of the past.  Our country is to be hated, suspected, challenged, even though it is becoming (some would argue has become) the last haven of freedom in the world. Now there are those that would add our country to the list of those with communist food lines, starvation, seclusion and a scary version of “freedom”.  In this, there is no middle ground. You are either fighting for your freedoms, or kneeling in obedience and praise to lose them.  Either way, if they’re lost, your life may be forfeit just as much as any others.

For centuries, America has fought and died for our freedoms. As “old” as I am, I, and many others will still die for ours. Because I remember playing with kids of all colors, races, religions when I was little. I remember in grade school we said the pledge of allegiance to the flag in the morning, because we were in a country where we could DO that, freely, out of respect for those who gave their lives for that freedom. I remember when bible classes were offered by nearby churches to students (no, not “mandated” by the school in case you might think that). I even remember when a moment of silence was implied to say a silent prayer for a specific need. I remember when believing that wasn’t a “crime” (maybe not always be literally (but in some recent cases has). And it has been taught so much in recent years to be “unconstitutional” or “against the law” (to those that never read or understood the Constitution or Bill of Rights). I could go on, but I’m not writing a novel.

Suffice it to say, we’re losing our freedoms, and we’re about to lose a lot more if this new 2022 administration keeps up. You can either take the example of countries like Venezuela and others throughout history and see it, and fight it (at the polls), or you can go blindly through it and let them basically call our freedoms “undeserved”, and accept control of a tyrannical government that isn’t interested In “we the people” and more interested in “we the powerful” (themselves).

I’ll say what I always say. If I’m wrong, we have nothing to worry about. Our country will be fine. If I’m right, we’ll be Venezuela. I am older, I’m not worried about myself. I’ve lived my life. Heck, they’re not worried about me. I’ll probably be gone in a few years anyway. I’m worried about my kids, my grand-kids. Right now, they still have most of our freedoms, but they’re now being challenged by a government that will remove them, in the name of “what’s best for you”, the rallying cry of Socialists/Communists that corrupted and destroyed countries throughout history. That is, if you’re still reading that in any of the modern public school systems.

This is one time I really, seriously hope I don’t have to be the one to say “I told you so”.
